VP and General Manager
As the VP and General Manager, Long is responsible for defining and achieving the strategic goals and performance targets of the BioStorage technologies business within Brooks Life Science Systems.
Long has over 30 years of experience solving science-based problems across the Pharmaceutical industry value chain, and for adjacent industries and academic research. He has experience leading global businesses focused on life and analytical science instrumentation, sample preparation, consumables, automation, informatics and lab services. Prior to BioStorage Technologies, Long was the Senior Director of Global Marketing and Business Management for Thermo Fisher Scientific. He also spent many years working in various executive-level marketing strategy, product and service positions with Perkin Elmer.
An international operator, Long has managed staff and partnered with clients in USA, Europe, China, and Singapore. In addition he has experience developing and maintaining international quality systems, and deploying continuous improvement tools to improve business performance and client satisfaction.
Vice President of Global Sales
As Vice President of Global Sales, Atwood oversees overall coordination, functional management and leadership of global sales initiatives for BioStorage Technologies. Key functions include development and execution of sales strategies, key account management, and management of the global sales team. Atwood works in collaboration with the global marketing team to identify and develop marketing initiatives and new customer service opportunities.
With more than 20 years of sales and leadership experience, Atwood has been immersed in the healthcare market—from medical device and software products to diagnostic services. Prior to BioStorage Technologies, he held roles of progressive leadership at LifeWatch AG, most recently serving as chief sales officer. Prior to LifeWatch AG, Atwood led Cerner Corporation’s National Health “for profit” business segment and served as Vice President of the Enterprise Management Group at Computer Associates. He graduated from Hanover College in Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, and a minor in Business Administration.
Head of Strategic Operations and Business Development
As the Head of Strategic Operations and Business Development, Russ Hager manages all BioStorage Technologies’ operations globally along with supply chain activities for relocation services and logistics. With a strong background in the FDA-regulated medical device and pharmaceutical industries, he has developed business continuity plans for manufacturing and supply chain operations for major corporations. Recognized as a subject matter specialist on warehousing and transportation, Hager possesses extensive experience with domestic and international supply chain management. He is also considered a subject matter expert in cold chain logistics support within GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environments. His certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, and Quality provide a robust background in continuous improvement.
Bringing more than 30 years of experience to BioStorage Technologies, Hager most recently was the Senior Director of Global Biorepository Operations at BioStorage. He also worked for Abbott Laboratories in roles of progressive responsibility, including senior leadership within global logistics, inventory, distribution, operations, and engineering. Hager earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.
Anna O’Nan, CPA, CGMA
Business Unit Controller/CFO, BioStorage Technologies
As business unit CFO, Anna O’Nan oversees global financial operations of BioStorage Technologies, including financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, procurement, strategic global alliances and M&A. She is also responsible for pricing of all service offerings, financial design of comprehensive client solutions and the associated return on investment for BioStorage clients.
Anna has 20 years of financial leadership experience, nine of them with BioStorage Technologies from the company’s start-up stages to a successful acquisition by Brooks automation in December 2015. Anna’s career prior to joining BioStorage Technologies, includes progressive finance leadership roles at firms including Ford Motor Company, Andersen, Hertz and Payton, LLC. She is a certified public accountant and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.
Brenda Slone, MBA
Senior Director of Global Biorepository Operations
As Senior Director of Global Biorepository Operations, Slone is responsible for the sample management operations globally including day-to-day tactical activities associated with sample administration, logistics, and transportation. Responsibilities include creating and implementing global policies and procedures, identifying and developing strategic opportunities to leverage services related to sample management, and leadership of all operations and logistics personnel.
Slone has over 15 years of experience in senior level operational management roles in supply chain, inventory management, logistics, distribution and operations. Within these roles she has provided leadership and continuous business improvements across all operational disciplines both domestically and globally in the aerospace, automotive, industrial and commercial industries. She has led the development and implementation of best-in-class policies and procedures ensuring demonstrated compliance in a highly regulated industry utilizing Six Sigma methodologies. In addition, she has a strong background in project management and change management through the use of collaborative, methodical, action-driven tools and closed-loop procedures with an emphasis on risk analysis and implementations.
Slone earned an M.B.A. from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University.
Lisa Gilbert, M.B.A.
Head of Global Marketing, Brooks Life Science Systems
As the Head of Global Marketing for Brooks Life Science Systems, Gilbert leads the development of corporate marketing strategy, brand presence, and the evaluation of new service solutions, partnerships and alliances. She brings over 20 years of healthcare industry research, sales and marketing experience within the pharmaceutical, CRO and health insurance industries to BioStorage Technologies.
Gilbert’s expertise is in global brand development, marketing strategy, digital marketing and market research. She has proven success in new product planning, market intelligence and in establishing customer relationship building and retention programs to effectively target and leverage sales and marketing efforts and resources.
Prior to joining BioStorage Technologies, Gilbert was the Director of Strategic Marketing for United Healthcare. She also previously held positions as the Senior Global Marketing Manager for Covance and Global Product Manager positions for Eli Lilly & Company and Allergan, Inc.
Gilbert received an MBA from the University of California, Irvine in Healthcare Marketing and Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University. She has expertise in Stage-Gate processes, certification in project management, as well as Six Sigma training and is a member of the ISBER Scientific Policy Committee.
Head of Global Operations
Kathi Shea is the Head of Global Operations for BioStorage Technologies, a Brooks Life Science Solutions Company. She is a former President of the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) and an active member of several ISBER committees and working groups. Kathi served on the Advisory Working Group that developed the College of American Pathologists Biorepository Accreditation Program and is an active member of the CAP BAP Committee. She has over 20 years of experience leading biorepository programs and advising on the design of biorepositories, quality systems, and optimal methods for collection, preservation and annotation of biospecimen collections.
