Our executive team collectively hails from around the world and has backgrounds in clinical research management, pharmacology and toxicology, as well as global transportation.

 

Gregory Swanberg, MBAGregory Swanberg, MBA

Chief Executive Officer

Swanberg brings more than 25 years of senior management and executive experience to BioStorage Technologies, leading operational, sales and corporate sales teams. He has consulting expertise in: critical facilities operational excellence; outsourcing advisory to corporate strategic sourcing teams; organizational strategy development and design; and process improvement. Swanberg has provided management and consulting support, both domestically and globally, to companies including Pfizer, Merck, Genentech, Novartis, Eli Lilly, Morgan Stanley, AT&T, Whirlpool and Lexmark.

Previous management roles have included direct oversight of the technical delivery of global outsourced and onsite services for critical functions in: pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities; public and private research centers; hospitals and clinics; and data centers. Most recently, he was managing director of UMS Advisory, a firm focused on outsourcing and operational excellence, primarily in the life sciences sector.

Swanberg holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia Southern University, and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Lori A Ball, MBALori A Ball, MBA

Chief Operating Officer

Lori Ball leads BioStorage Technologies global and domestic operations, including strategic business development, the implementation of global growth strategies, and overseeing the company’s North American and European facilities. She also maintains senior management responsibilities for sales, marketing, logistics and information technology.

Formerly at Covance, Inc., she served as global head of sales/business development and global head of supply chain management and logistics. While there, Ball had a proven track record of sales and revenue growth and was responsible for overseeing multiple lines of management.

Ball earned an M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University and a B.A. in Education from Anderson University, Indiana. She holds Six Sigma Green Belt credentials and has completed Six Sigma Executive and Champion training. Additionally, she is a known industry speaker and an expert on specimen transportation.

Mike Reffeitt, MBAMike Reffeitt, MBA

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO and a member of the Executive Management Team, Reffeitt leads the organization in the strategic and financial oversight of the company. He has senior responsibility for all areas related to finance and accounting, human resources, strategic and commercial development, legal and administration, information technology infrastructure, and facilities and real estate. He works closely with the Board of Directors and is the lead staff on both the Audit and Compensation Committees. He is the chief financial spokesperson for the company, working with shareholders and the investment and banking communities.

Prior to joining BioStorage Technologies, Reffeitt spent nearly a decade with Covance Inc., assuming increasing areas of responsibility, most recently as a Director in the Finance Department.

Mr. Reffeitt holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration.

Brent AtwoodBrent Atwood

Vice President of Global Sales

As vice president of global sales, Atwood oversees overall coordination, functional management and leadership of global sales initiatives for BioStorage Technologies. Key functions include development and execution of sales strategies, key account management, and management of the global sales team. Atwood works in collaboration with the global marketing team to identify and develop marketing initiatives and new customer service opportunities.

With more than 16 years of sales and leadership experience, Atwood has been immersed in the healthcare market—from medical device and software products to diagnostic services. Prior to BioStorage Technologies, he held roles of progressive leadership at LifeWatch AG, most recently serving as chief sales officer. Prior to LifeWatch AG, Atwood led Cerner Corporation’s National Health “for profit” business segment and served as vice president of the Enterprise Management Group at Computer Associates. He graduated from Hanover College in Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, and a minor in Business Administration.

Catherine MichaelCatherine Michael

Senior Director of Comprehensive Solutions

As Senior Director of Comprehensive Solutions, Michael is responsible for creating and implementing unique sample management solutions for strategic partnerships with laboratories, CROs, emerging pharma companies and in newly discovered business markets.

In her first 2 years at BioStorage Technologies, Michael was the global head of sample management operations accountable for the global policies and procedures of the sample storage management services. She lead BioStorage Technologies’ day-to-day tactical activities associated with receiving, registering and retrieving samples, and initiated the new 2011 services of sample preparatory services and clinical trial project management.

Prior to joining BioStorage Technologies, Michael was executive director of global project and data management at PPD Global Central Labs. There, she led two departments and was responsible for all service and data deliverables to the company’s pharmaceutical clients, including trial definition, conduct and closeout. As part of the executive committee, Michael defined and led strategic initiatives regarding process and technology, as well as supported financial and operational obligations for all markets.

Michael holds a B.A. in Education from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. She also studied pharmacy through Purdue University.

Russ HagerRuss Hager

Senior Director of Global Biorepository Operations

As the senior director of global biorepository operations, Russ Hager manages all global BioStorage Technologies biorepositry operations along with supply chain activities for relocation services and logistics. With a strong background in the FDA-regulated medical device and pharma industries operations, he has developed business continuity plans for manufacturing and logistics operations for major corporations. Recognized as a subject matter specialist on warehousing and transportation, Hager possesses extensive experience with domestic and international supply chain management. He is also considered a subject matter expert in cold chain logistics support within GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environments.

Bringing more than 27 years of experience to BioStorage Technologies, Hager most recently was the Global Director of Supply Chain at BioStorage. He also worked for Abbott Laboratories in roles of progressive responsibility, including senior leadership within global logistics, inventory, distribution, operations, and engineering. Hager earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.

Anna O'Nan, CPAAnna O’Nan, CPA

Senior Director of Finance & Accounting

As senior director of finance and accounting, O’Nan oversees global financial operations, including financial statement preparation and reporting, audit and tax, accounts payable, banking and cash management, fixed assets, budgeting, forecasting and costing. She is also responsible for pricing of existing services, client ROI modeling, procurement, backlog and sales reporting, contracting, billing, and accounts receivable and collections.

Prior to joining BioStorage Technologies, Anna spent 10 years in progressive managerial finance roles at firms including Arthur Andersen, Ford Motor Company, Hertz and Payton, LLC. She is a certified public accountant and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.

Lisa Gilbert, MBALisa Gilbert, MBA

Director of Global Marketing

As global director of marketing, Lisa Gilbert is responsible for brand marketing, brand presence, and management of partnerships/alliances. Additionally from a research perspective, Gilbert collects, assimilates, and interprets both internal and external market and competitor intelligence in order to effectively target and leverage sales and marketing efforts, and resources. She provides strategic direction regarding the company’s participation at trade shows, conferences, and market events.

Gilbert possesses a wealth of experience, with over 20 years of experience in market research, strategic marketing, customer relations and retention, brand development and new product planning. Prior to BioStorage Technologies, Gilbert was most recently director of strategic marketing for United Healthcare. She also held positions as senior global marketing manager for Covance and global marketing product manager for Eli Lilly & Company. Lisa has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, as well as a master’s degree from the University of California.

Lance Clark, SPHRLance Clark, SPHR

Director of Global Human Resources

Clark brings more than 25 years of experience as a human resources leader in a variety of industries. He will direct all human resources activities for BioStorage Technologies, including the planning, development and implementation of strategic HR goals and objectives, recruitment and retention, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and the training, development and performance management of staff worldwide.

Over the past five years, Clark has held senior human resources leadership roles for two large organizations. In his most recent role, he was responsible for 1500 employees at 32 offices around the world. His experience in providing support to employees at client locations will be a tremendous asset to the company’s expansion into on-site sample management services, which allow customers to keep samples at their location while utilizing BioStorage Technologies industry-leading technologies and expertise.

Clark graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Science and then completed his Law Degree at Indiana University School of Law. Admitted to both the Indiana and Pennsylvania Bar, he also holds his Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

Barb Dunn, MBABarb Dunn, MBA

Director of Resource Management

Dunn brings a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years of experience to BioStorage Technologies. Barb directs and conducts all activities for the Facilities, IT Infrastructure and the Business Informatics functions at all BioStorage Technologies locations. She began her career as a Supply Officer in the Navy where she achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Since then, she has held several Senior Management manufacturing, logistics and facilities-related positions for companies like Caterpillar Logistics, Major Tool & Machine, Rolls-Royce and Visteon Corporation (a 1st tier supplier for Ford Motor Co.)

Prior to joining BioStorage, Barb launched a manufacturing facility with Major Tool & Machine for state-of-the-art prototype casings assembled by the customer into a uranium enrichment centrifuge. During this assignment she led the engineering and manufacturing teams in the construction of a 180,000SF facility, including installation and validation of highly customized manufacturing equipment, establishment and implementation lean manufacturing processes and implementation a quality system auditable to NQA-1. Her most recent assignments with Caterpillar Logistics included launching a high-volume, highly-automated 3PL distribution center and leading the turn-around of an established 3PL facility.

Barb graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Engineering/Political Science and then completed her MBA at Chaminade University in Hawaii.
